Subject: [EXTERNAL][Trombone-l] Older Holton Ball Sockets

Howdy!

I recently picked up what I estimate to be an early to mid-1980s Holton
TR-156. It's in decent shape, other than the usuals - needs a slide
alignment, cleaning, and replacement ball sockets for the rotor linkage.

Years ago, I was able to get some replacements through Holton, but I'm
pretty sure that won't happen now since they've been assimilated into the
Steinway Borg.

I've seen comments that people have used Du-Bro R/C aircraft parts, but so
far I have had no luck finding the right size. I have a set of 4-40 Du-Bro
Ball Sockets (884), and they are too big.

Any suggestions on the right size, or a source for the old ball sockets?
I've tried Votaw and they're sold out. I don't have access to Allied since
I'm not a repair person.

Modifying them to mini-ball links isn't really an option, as I don't want
to spend that much money on the instrument.

Thanks for any ideas!

Chris
