[Trombone-l] Scam?

It's a scam, through and through.

If you respond with a price, the next email they send will be to verify 
that since they have received a certified check from a US Bank, can they 
pay you using that? The amount, of course, will be substantially more 
than you're asking, but they'll trust you to send them a ceritified 
check for the difference. Only later, when you try to deposit their 
"Ceritified Check," will you learn that it's counterfeit.
