[Trombone-l] crazy high bone solo

When Steve Turre says that the sound of the shell is the ideal trombone
sound, I think those opening notes in Dick Nash's solo are what he's
talking about. I have three playable conch shells myself, and just
listening to the first phrase, I could as easily imagine he was playing a
shell as the trombone.
