[Trombone-l] Possible Mouthpiece Allergy

Hi all,

Who has experience with allergic reactions to standard silver-plated
mouthpieces? I have one spot where the rim crosses that sometimes fades but
never goes away. No swelling. At first I thought it was a cold sore. It
doesn't quite seem like what some brass and flute players on the web have
described as allergies.

I'm going to switch over to a Kelly Lexan mouthpiece when I have a stretch
of practice-only days to see whether stopping contact with silver plate
will make a difference.
